Supporting children’s social and emotional growth from early development through the classroom and beyond.

Social and emotional learning (SEL) plays a huge role in how children learn, build relationships, and manage their emotions. As educators, we have a special opportunity to support the whole child and that means not just academically, but emotionally and socially as well.

Why It Matters

Prenatal development and early childhood experiences have a lasting impact on a child’s social and emotional development. Factors like maternal health, stress, and environment during pregnancy can affect brain development and later on effect a child's emotional regulation. Relationships and experiences from the beginning shape how children build trust, manage emotions, and interact with others as they grow into adolescence (Zero to Three, 2024).
